The European Union is ploughing ahead with unfair trade deals that threaten to derail development for millions of people. We need to act against them before it's too late.
Already thousands of you have contacted UK development secretary, Douglas Alexander, about economic partnership agreements (EPAs). Find out more about EPAs.
Now we need to get international.
Why MEPs?
Members of the European parliament hold the European Commission (EC) to account, and so have the opportunity to influence these deals over the coming months.
Write to your MEP(s) today asking that they:
request EC president, José Manuel Barroso, to reopen negotiations with affected African, Caribbean and Pacific countries
call for an end to aggressive negotiating by the commission
take part in a full debate in the European parliament
vote against the EC’s proposals if the deals are not revised to address the concerns of poor countries.
Act now before it’s too late – the future of 750 million people could depend on it.
You will be joining other campaigners across Europe who will also be pressing their MEPs to take action against these unfair trade deals.
There will be several MEPs representing your area, and some already back our campaign. By taking this action, you will be able to contact some who have yet to declare their support.
